How to find your appliance model number and part number

Guide Β· November 1, 2026 Β· 4 min read

Before you order a replacement part, you need two numbers: the model number of your appliance and, if you can, the part number printed on the old part. With these, finding the right part takes seconds instead of guessing.

Model number vs. serial number

Both are on the same sticker, so people often mix them up. The model number tells you what appliance you have (for example WFW8300SW05). The serial number is unique to your unit and is not used to find parts. Look for the line labelled "Model", "MOD" or "M/N".

Where to find the model sticker

  • Front-load washer: inside the door rim, or on the back panel.
  • Top-load washer: under the lid, or on the back of the control panel.
  • Dryer: inside the door opening, on the frame.
  • Fridge: inside the fresh-food section, on a side wall near the top, or behind the crisper drawers.
  • Range / oven: open the oven door or pull out the bottom drawer and look on the frame.
  • Dishwasher: on the edge of the door or the tub, visible when the door is open.

Finding the part number on the old part

Most electronic parts have a label with one or more numbers. Control boards, pumps, valves and motors usually show the main part number on a white sticker or printed on the plastic. Write down every number you see; one of them will match.

Tip: take a clear photo of the sticker with your phone. You can type the number in our search, or text the photo to us and we will check if we have the part.

Search with what you have

Our search works with part numbers, model numbers and plain words like "dryer motor". If you mistype a digit, we still show similar parts below the exact matches.
